September 7, 2012
I am very pleased to announce there has been an extraordinary interest in the Westwood Referee Program this season. I’m delighted there is such an interest in this important aspect of our game. I am, however, sorry to say we have reached, and in fact, exceeded our roster quota. We aim for 40 officials each season to ensure each official works sufficient assignments to develop their skills. The number of games are fixed and limited so we do not want to “cut the pie” too thinly.
For the 2012-2013 season we have lost only FOUR officials from last season, which is a record. The combination of almost no one leaving the program, and a record number of first year official entering the program, will have us approaching 50 officials this season. This represents our largest roster ever.
I thank you again for your interest and I look forward to working with all our Westwood officials this season.
Sincerely,
Murray E. Briceland
